Features
Viburnum nudum 'Brandywine' features stunning, glossy foliage that changes from deep green to vibrant burgundy in the fall, providing a dazzling autumnal view. These berries are not only visually appealing, but also attract birds, enriching the natural splendor of your garden.
What is the average size of a Brandywine Viburnum?
At maturity, expect this Viburnum to reach a height and width of 6-8 feet.
Planting
To properly prepare for planting, the soil needs to be loosened to a depth of 12 inches. All weeds, rocks, and debris should be removed from the area before digging a hole that is two to three times wider than the shrub's root ball. The hole should be the same depth as the root ball. If the soil is lacking in nutrients or has poor drainage, adding compost or peat moss can help. Gently remove the Viburnum nudum 'Brandywine' from its container, and if the roots are tightly packed, gently loosen them to encourage outward growth. Place the shrub in the center of the hole, at the same depth as it was in the container. As you backfill the hole with soil, make sure to gently pack it around the roots to eliminate any air pockets. After planting, water the shrub thoroughly and keep the soil consistently moist, especially during the first growing season.
