Atrovirens Arborvitae
Atrovirens Arborvitae
Features
Excellent glossy dark-green foliage that off-colors slightly in winter; a very hardy selection, makes a great tall evergreen hedge, takes pruning exceptionally well.
What is the average size of a Atrovirens?
Reaches 20-25 ft. tall, 6-8 ft. wide.
Planting
It is quite adaptable, preferring to grow in average to wet conditions, and will even tolerate some standing water. It is not particular as to soil type or pH. It is somewhat tolerant of urban pollution, and will benefit from being planted in a relatively sheltered location. Consider applying a thick mulch around the root zone in winter to protect it in exposed locations or colder microclimates. This is a selection of a native North American species.
